If you're like me, you enjoy a good Garfield comic every now and again. Usually when you're pooping. And, like, 30 Garfield comics...
At any rate, Ronald has hooked me up with a pretty funny site where they Photoshopped Garfield out of a bunch of panels to create a more hysterical (in both senses of the word) version of the comic. Pretty danged funny.
At most, I've been feeling rather tepid about these internet serials on such sites as My Damn Channel and Super Deluxe. They all fall short of the comedy mark (although I read in the New York Times that for Super Deluxe, the goal is not straight-up comedy so much as odd-ball pursuit of personal interests on behalf of the creators, with which I can't take issue). While this one doesn't have me laughing out loud, I think the new Fauxp Opera "Horrible People" on My Damn Channel is, at the very least, worth checking out for a chuckle or two. It takes the curiously hyper-responsive attitude of Stella or Wainy Days characters and supplants it into the schema of Soap Opera language. In Soap Operas, this sense of comedy seems very much at home, as these two are not really distant cousins, but more like brothers.
This famed and fabled holiday is rather elusive in its origins. Millions of children around the country celebrate a holiday that, deep down, really is the celebration of the murders of countless. Who is to blame? Why is this a holiday? What really happened at Plymouth Rock? This should clarify everything, history books be damned!
This video is brought to you by Alex Escobar. Alex Escobar is a character created by my friend Jordan, and is featured in several videos, one of which I shot (Grillin' and Chillin'). Enjoy all four below in the order in which they were created:
David Wain shows that there is always life outside of Stella... and that life outside of Stella is identical to life INSIDE Stella, minus Mikey B. and Mike Show.
Wainy Days is a part of My Damn Channel, a new website launched by Rob Arnett to prove that people want well-produced shows that are better than the drivel on MTV, and that the Internet is a great venue for that. There's most likely nothing original about that concept.
Now, it might sound like I'm getting down on the whole thing. That's because for the most part, I am. This is NOT to say that it isn't entertaining to a certain extent. But it is getting a bit old watching Wain write in beautiful women to kiss him or his cohorts. We get it, you've got hot friends.
To his credit, though, there are no dildos and he's not walking around like a flagrantly feminine homosexual.
.... YES. I told you about Jordan's comedic video endeavors, and now both the Ketchup video that I linked to previously AND the Xorbit commercial (which is fuck-wording hilarious) are on GooTube.
It's always a pleasure for me to see people my age doing things that are accomplished, exhibit talent, and in general prove that you don't have to work your ass off for decades for someone else to prove your own worth.
Jordan and friends have created a commercial for the Heinz competition, and it's worth your time.
Or, as you know him, George Michael Bluth from Arrested Development.
On FunnyorDie, the website that brought you The Landlady, there's a clip of Michael Cera pretending to be the original male lead in the upcoming "Knocked Up," channeling his inner Lily Tomlin and getting himself fired.
Where was it that we met that time when I met you that I met you?
Last night, Grant showed me the band Flight of the Conchords, a pretty hilarious acoustic duo similar to Tenacious D, except from New Zealand... you can see some of their performances on the GooTube, one being my personal favorite so far, "Jenny."
That reminds me to also tell you about the band Hard n' Phirm... most of their stuff isn't too great but a few tracks are excellently hilarious. One in particular, that I had on repeat for a couple of days straight, is "El Corazon." The video really augments the song, providing you the translation of the Spanish. The lyrics are hilarious.
