Awwwww year!

Psyched about this movie. Not sure how I feel about the animation... but damn, this is an important event to remember in the context of our present situation, both in terms of our recent loss of certain constitutional rights, and in terms of the lengths citizens have gone in the past, and must again in the future, for the sake of their belief in what is right and good.

Al Gore

Despite the fact that the United States government seems to want nothing to do with solving global climate change, Al Gore wants everything to do with it. So he will be going to Bali to represent United States citizens that sign this petition:

With the time of the year when people are generally considered obligated to buy other people things rapidly approaching (or for some already here), I'm reminded of the fact that I hate buying people things. Not because I'm cheap, not because I'm lazy, not because it's so damn hard to find something you think someone will actually LIKE, but because it seems SO impersonal. I try to make things for people as much as I can, and I'll admit that I often have to resort to purchases.

However, there are many websites that are here to help! I don't know what most, if any, of them are, but I do know one: Make Magazine.

In particular, I'd like to draw your attention to this great gift. It's both functional and badass!

Traceurs against landmines

Traceurs are cool people. They free-walk and free-fly their ways around cities without touching the ground, or at least doing it minimally. It's badass to see.

This website is meant to bring about awareness of countries where unexploded landmines are a threat to daily life. It's a pretty cool website, and an opportunity to quickly and easily help with the problem.

What's a Girl to Do?

IMO, hella-awesome video. Apparently all she said was, "I want it like E.T. And I like Donny Darko, too."

A Plat Ventre - "Flat on one's belly," photos of people lying flat on their stomachs in France in very strange places.
